SUCCESSFUL REPLANTATION OF THE ENTIRE SCALP WITH EYEBROW AND FOREHEAD

Abstract
In 1.976, Miller et al. reported first successful microvascular replantation of the entire scalp. avulsion, total 13 anastomoses were performed on 5 veins and 3 arteries. 5 major paired vessels of the arterial system enter the scalp and anastomose to form an extensive interconnecting network. In microsurgical replant of the avulsed scalp it has been demonstrated that even one arterial anastomosis, enough blood is supplied to maintain viability of the total scalp. The superficial temporal vessel has been the most accessible and most commonly used for
vascular repair in scalp replantation.
We report one case of successful scalp replantation.
Avulsion level was nearly along hair line, but in front, entire forehead, eyebrow, upper lid
were involved. So, we replanted avulsed scalp by micro vascular anastomosis of one superficial temporal artery and vein using vein graft.
